A Word From The Pastor......
Over two decades ago the United Methodist Men of Buford built a small chapel at the Holiday Marina (near the entrance of Lake Lanier Islands) for the purpose of having weekly worship services during the warm months of the year. A Chapel Board of Directors was formed to develop the ministry as an Ecumenical Ministry. Since its inception people from various denominations of the Christian Faith have gathered for worship and for witness at the “Lanier Chapel” at Holiday Marina. Many couples have united in Holy Matrimony beneath the beautiful arches of the Lanier Chapel. The ministry of the Lanier Chapel has been wonderful!
The Chapel Board met recently for the purpose of planning the 2008 season of Worship. A decision was made to begin the Chapel Services on Memorial Day Weekend (May 25, 2008) and conclude services on the weekend after Labor Day (September 7, 2008). The services will begin at 9:00 AM. and last approximately, 45 minutes. Speakers from the area will share each week along with a program of music that will inspire. I write to encourage your support of the Lanier Chapel.
If you desire to attend Worship at the Lanier Chapel then you need to be aware of the following items. Drive to the Guard Post at the entrance to the Holiday Marina near the entrance to Lake Lanier Islands. Tell the guard that you are going to the Chapel Service. They will allow you to proceed and you should drive to the first parking lot to your left or the first parking lot on the right. The chapel sits atop the hill to your left after you go past the parking lot on your left. Simply park your car and walk up the hill. A sign marking the Chapel walkway will be on your left. If you wish to contribute (financially) to Buford First UMC while attending the chapel service please mark your offering accordingly, otherwise the offerings will go to support the work of the Lanier Chapel.
A few times each year I go and preach at the Chapel service. Every time I go I am blessed by worshipping in the open-air Chapel. I hope that you will visit the Chapel this summer. This is a good time and place to invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc… so that your Christian Witness can be strong.
Please remember, call me, if you need me.
Sincerely,
Gerry
